Ever since she was little, she knew what she was meant to do

Every night her Mommy and Daddy told her that one day she would do wonderful things

They said it so often, she began to believe it.

She didn’t play with Barbies because there was far too much to do to take time and play

No, she spent her time making a plan about how she would accomplish her dreams.

She didn’t know much about how to get to the finish line,

But she knew it needed to be crossed.  

So she got her purse, gathered up everything she needed, and headed out the door.

She was filled with determination as she marched up the stairs to the town’s library

She walked up to the counter and stood on her very tip toes as she said

“I wanna know about space, and I wanna know how to get there.

Please”

For hours she poured over books, all about constellations, and space, and though she did not understand the words, she understood the importance.

That night the little girl dreamt of space,

And in the morning, she knew that this was what she was meant to do.
