Sexual Misconduct Epidemic
Its been weeks and weeks of the news cycle being dominated by stories of alleged sexual abusers, harassers, and general awful behavior by men in positions of power. One of the most infuriating stories is the recounting of the abuse committed by USA Gymnastics team doctor Larry Nassar who spent nearly 30 years with the organization and is now accused of sexually assaulting over 130 young gymnasts over his tenure.
Aly Raisman, one of the most highly decorated American gymnasts in history, came forward with her account of Nassar's years of abuse and it's horrifying to hear. Raisman blames USA Gymnastics, which has a standing policy against adults being alone with minors, for not looking out for her and the other athletes.
Nassar, who is currently in jail and awaiting sentencing on charges that he collected child pornography, denies he sexually assaulted any of the gymnasts.
