Unless you have been living under a rock for the past couple of months, you've heard of the relatively new CW show, Riverdale. The teen drama is based off of the Archie Comics, following five students, (Archie, Betty, Veronica, Jughead, and Cheryl), their classmates, and parents, after the murder of water polo captain, Jason Blossom. The hit show stars KJ Apa, Cole Sprouse, Lili Reinhart, Madelaine Petsch, Camila Mendes, Ashleigh Murray, Luke Perry, Mädchen Amick, Marisol Nichols and Casey Cott. Riverdale gained an big audience after its premiere on January 26th, 2017, and gained even more popularity after all 13 episodes were released to Netflix. The drama was so well received that it was picked up for a second season after less than half of the season was aired.
Rivedale’s second season will air on October 11th, 2017, with a new threat in the forever-changed town the viewer will be left trying to solve new mysteries. With so much praise, the cast and crew will have to work hard to keep the same amount of buzz and make the audience invested in what's happening in the town of Riverdale. Showrunner Roberto Agurre-Sacasa told comicbook.com that “It (Jason’s murder) was a crime that happened in the past. And until the very end, it was not like our characters were in danger. They were sniffing around a mystery, but it wasn’t until the last few episodes when you felt like ‘Oh my God, something really bad could happen.’ Season 2, it’s still noir and it’s still crime, but it’s much more like a suspense thriller, and you feel like our characters are at risk in a much more visceral way. So it’s I think a scarier season in that way.” Although much is unknown about the second season, minor spoilers were shared, like hardships for one of the show’s most popular couples, and the fate of certain characters after the events of the season 1 finale. Season 2 is going to be full of drama and mystery, so make sure you tune into the CW on October 11th or on the CW app!
