New Vice Principal Carlisle Brings Positivity to Students

student writer: Nathan Knause

Mr. Robert Carlisle was officially hired for the position of vice principal at Montour High School after receiving his master’s degree in administration from California University of Pennsylvania.     He began  his career in English education because he always enjoyed reading as a pastime, which helped pave the way into his teaching career. From there, Carlisle became a librarian at David E. Williams.

“I know I will enjoy my position as vice principal, and I am very proud to be part of all the great programs that Montour offers,” stated Carlisle,

Every day he loves coming to school and watching the students grow and hopefully helping them have a “positive outlook” on life, just as he did.

He started his teaching career with the purpose of being a positive influence in young lives, which is one of the benefits in his new position, only on a larger scale. Mr. Carlisle wants to impact students’ lives the way multiple role models such as Ken Griffey Jr., Kirby Pucket, Barry Sanders, and Michael Jordan did for him in his childhood.

“My role models provided me a positive outlook on life, made me a better person and shaped my future career,” stated Carlisle..

As he looks forward to impacting students’ lives, his goal this year is to build more relationships with the high school students and staff. In order to achieve this, Carlisle plans to lead through example by treating everybody around him with respect and dignity.

I am a veteran English teacher of 34 years, and I teach AP Literature and Composition, English 11, SAT Prep, and Digital Media.
