Goosebumps 2 Movie Review

Goosebumps 2  was released on October 12, 2018, but it was recently added to Netflix movies and Vudu, YouTube, Google Play Movies &TV, and Amazon Prime Video. As a young, adult I found the movie cheesy, but for many junior high students it may be a different story. The main actors are Jack Black(R.L. Stine), Madison Iseman(daughter), Jeremy Ray Taylor(son), Caleel Harris(family friend), Wendi McLendon-Covey(mother), Mick Wingert(Slappy the Dummy voice). The movie Goosebumps 2 starts out commonly like every other horror film. Things are really nice and everything is going well for the family. There is a mother and three children, two of whom are the son and daughter of the mom and another is a family friend. The mother is a nurse and needs to work double shifts, meaning she’s not going to be able to come home. Since the movie is based off of R.L. Stine's famous Goosebumps books, the two boys end up finding “Slappy”...........

Slappy is a puppet created by R.L. Stein as a son, but using a magical typewriter Slappy comes to life and would do anything to make sure things go his way. The doll is basically the control for everything that goes wrong. He has the power to make anything happen. The kids take Slappy home, but things take a sudden twist once the two boys start to get more interactive with “Slappy”. “Slappy” starts to terrorize the town and brings Halloween to life. The kids go on a long journey to find the R.L Stein book that could save them and the whole town. The book started with Slappy, written in but there was no ending to the story, so the kids set out on a mission to finish the story and the demons terrorizing the town. This movie is fairly predictable, but the ending was surprising and made the finishing touch that much better. It would definitely be a movie highly recommended for young teens. The actors were pretty good for the most part, but the script was lacking. IMDb rated this movie to be a 5.6/10 which I agree with because this movie was okay.
