The Top Albums Starting Off 2020

We are starting a new decade! With 2020 just around the corner and hundreds of iconic albums and breakthrough artists later, it only feels fitting that we reminisce about the past ten years and look forward to the next ten. Through feud and controversy, flops and successes, the music industry has changed drastically with musicians breaking all the rules when it comes to creating art. So here are the top five albums that will kick off the new decade.

5.) “The Fall Off”- J.Cole

J. Cole has definitely made his way around the music business, at 34 years old he has an extensive resume including five studio albums, three compilation albums, three mixtapes and over twenty singles as a featured artist, he has pretty much done it all. Although not without scandal among other rappers like Lil Pump and Kanye West. But, J. Cole’s fans continue to stay loyal to the long- time rapper. Though there is no release date, we will definitely have new music from Cole in the future as he admits that his previous album “KOD” nods towards the next chapter.

4.) “Nightfall”- Little Big Town

This country quartet is sure to be successful in the coming decade. Their unique backwoods sound has been known to be appealing to most country fans. On January 17th, 2020, the group will be releasing their ninth studio album, “Nightfall” after being in the game for nearly 18 years! With eight CMAs, three CMTs, three Grammys, and their powerhouse vocals, this new album is sure to be a success.

3.) “Walls” - Louis Tomlinson

Louis Tomlinson will be dropping his debut solo album in 2020! He got his start after entering the X Factor competition in 2010 and debuting his English charm in the dreamy teen boy band, One Direction. Though I never cared for their music myself, the boys shaped a whole generation. A generation that experienced One Direction’s faces on everything ranging from pencils to bed sheets and even an entire store in Times Square. Since the band’s separation in 2015, each of the boys has grown up a great deal and have all moved on with their music careers, now Tomlinson is joining them with his album “Walls” on January 31st, 2020.

 2.) “Treat Myself”- Meghan Trainor

From blonde bombshell to auburn glam and back again, Meghan Trainor is back and dropping her third studio album on January 31, 2020. (It looks like Louis Tomlinson will have some competition.) Since announcing the release date, she has dropped two singles from the album entitled “Treat Myself” one called “Waves” and another called “Workin’ On It”. After marrying Spy Kids star Daryl Sabara, I think we’re all hoping for some new songs about married life and what’s to come in the future.

1.) "High Road"- Kesha

We started off the decade with Kesha’s “Animal” on January 1 2010, since then Kesha has had a long, difficult road, from being admitted to rehab to fighting for herself in a sexual assault case to releasing her hit song “Praying” in 2017. Now, she starts off 2020 with her album “High Road” dropping on January 10th. The album is already gaining popularity after the release of the new leading singles “Raising Hell” and “Rainbow”. With Kesha kicking off a new decade, we are going to have a great ten years of new pop music.
