Broken Window - a poem

Sometimes I’ll look out the window

While I’m riding in a car

First I’ll recognize the perfect day

Then how the thought is below par

Out the window, someone is dying,

Out the window, someone is fighting to live,

And I’m looking out the window,

Thinking of how wonderful life is

Life isn’t wonderful,

Well not all the time,

People are thriving

While some work for a dime

Then I see you

You catch my sight

You’re smiling but I won’t assume

That everything is right

Through the window

There’s not just a one-way view

You’re looking at me

As I’m looking at you

You may see sunshine,

And I’ll just see rain,

I can see beauty,

And you’ll just see pain

So I’ll look out the window

All may seem right

But it doesn’t have to be

The world is a delight

It is also demolished

Cruel and unfair

And when I look out the window

I know that’s all there
