This announcement is for any students who would like to learn more about the United States Naval Academy as a post-secondary college option.  There will be a bus trip to visit the Academy, which is located in Annapolis Maryland on Saturday March 30th.  The  purpose of this trip is to give interested students and their parents an opportunity to see the Academy first hand, learn about the application/appointment process, and meet with local area high school graduates who are presently midshipmen at the Academy.  If you have an interest in serving your country as an officer, this is a great way to attend college for free, as a degree from the Academy is estimated to be worth approximately $400,000 for the four year program.

Check out the information sheet on Schoology if you would like to learn more!

Rebel members of President Donald Trump's party have helped pass a vote to reject his declaration of an emergency on the US-Mexico border. Twelve Republican senators broke party ranks to side with Democrats, approving a proposal to revoke the proclamation by 59-41. The Democratic-controlled House of Representatives last month backed the measure. Following Thursday's vote, Trump tweeted: "VETO!"

In other news,

Tesla has launched its latest car, the Model Y, its second mass-market electric vehicle. The car was unveiled at an event in Los Angeles. The firm will first release a long-range version of the vehicle with a price tag of $47,000. Chief executive Elon Musk said a standard-range model priced at $39,000 would be available in 2021. It comes after a challenging period for Tesla, with production issues and legal problems for Musk. The Tesla boss had previously described the Model Y as part of a plan to reach a wider audience, following on from the Model 3 - the cheapest car in its range, which was launched in 2017.

On this day in 44 B.C Julius Caesar, the ”dictator for life” of the Roman Empire, is murdered by his own senators at a meeting in a hall next to Pompey’s Theatre. The conspiracy against Caesar encompassed as many as sixty noblemen, including Caesar’s own protege, Marcus Brutus.
