DEHLI’S SCHOOLS SMOKED OUT

Diwali, the festival of lights, is easily the most celebrated event on India’s national calendar. For five days straight, residents don bright new clothes, light ceremonial candles, and pray to the goddess Lakshmi during group feasts. Diwali’s trademark element however is its massive fireworks displays. As a result of all the pyrotechnics, a dense and stifling smog emerges over New Dehli, a cloud filled with 30 times the safe level of a pollutant called PM2.5. Worst of all, even before Diwali, the city of New Dehli already suffers from one of the world's worst air pollution levels. A recent UNICEF report indicates India’s school children are especially at risk—of the 2 billion kids growing up in air regions with heavily polluted air, nearly a third are living in South Asia.

IT'S ALMOST OVER! ELECTION 2016

With 24 hours left in the most hateful presidential campaign in American history, both Republicans and Democrats are more emotional than ever. And while both sides are convinced that an opponent’s win will incite Armageddon, all are sure to breathe some sigh of relief come Wednesday. Tommy Vietor, a top official in Barack Obama's 2008 campaign, puts it well—"I think when this election ends and people stop for a minute and actually reflect, they will realize how insane and horrible it really was." Depending on who you ask, the race isn’t over. For the first time, CNN has projected Hillary Clinton's electoral vote total to be below 270, the number needed to win. Republicans like Rush Limbaugh have begun to pounce, claiming that “we have panic starting set in in the Democratic Party”.Latest Presidential Election Projections

MICHAEL BUBLÉ'S SON DIAGNOSED WITH CANCER

Canadian singer Michael Bublé and wife Luisana Lopilato have announced that after becoming ill with what seemed to be mumps, their three-year-old son Noah has been diagnosed with cancer. However, Lopilato’s sister Daniela has publicly denied widespread reports that the boy has developed Leukemia, or any cancer of the central nervous system, adding, “the only thing I ask is that you don’t speculate because not everyone has children and can understand what this means.” Over the last 50 years, the outlook for children with cancer has improved greatly—in 1975, only 50% of all children diagnosed with cancer prior to age 20 survived at least 5 years. By 2010, that number had risen to 80%.
