WOMEN’S MARCH IN D.C. AND ACROSS THE WORLD

On January 21st, the first full day of Donald Trump’s Presidency, the Women’s March on Washington drew more than 500,000 demonstrators to the nation’s capital. Though its timing is certainly no coincidence, organizers reiterate that the march was not meant to specifically be an “anti-Trump” event, but rather a show of strength, unity and humanity after an extremely negative campaign season. They do warn however, that if Trump pursues policies with sexist or discriminatory elements, all alliances formed during the march will be prepared to fight back. Like-minded advocates have planned more than 600 simultaneous marches throughout the U.S. as well as 70 other countries worldwide, including the United Kingdom, Japan, South America, Canada, Germany, France and Brazil. In total, the marches are projected to attract well over 2 million participants.
